Why is Grooming My Cat Important?
by Patricia A. Cox, Certified Master Groomer
• To maintain health and avoid unwanted parasites, possible skin diseases, hair balls and mats.

• Cats naturally clean themselves, but sometimes need assistance from their owners or groomers.

• Brush short hair cats daily and long-hair cats usually twice a day with a fine-tooth comb, along with a slicker brush.

• Removing dead and unwanted hair is vital to prevent matting and will help to keep the coat and skin healthy.

• Make your grooming time as pleasant as possible, short sessions work best.

• Grooming provides you with knowledge of your cat’s physical characteristics and may prove important in noticing any growths, lumps or tender areas.

• If you find that you do not have the time or ability to groom your cat on a regular basis, seek the services of an experienced and qualified groomer.
